Classic Hip-Hop Radio recently crossed paths with Jonah Melvon. He was kind enough to share a few of his thoughts.
Are you looking for to remain independent or to get a major label deal?
If the deal is right I am open to the dialogue. If it’s a promotion deal I would be more interested then a distribution deal, just because the distro part is more simple now, getting records off the shelf is a whole nother beast.
If anything, what would you change about the music industry today?
The images and the audio that are presented specifically to urban areas, continue to slow down our progression. I would def want to change the images and the audio, and I working to do my part now to raise that awareness.
Do you have any advice for up-and-coming artists?
Envision yourself being where it is you want to be and what you would represent. Write out a plan from that point in time, now go backwards, to see if you are in line with that vision.
